It’s official! Cousins Beach isn’t closing just yet. After three seasons of heartbreak, beachside romance and the fandom fiercely choosing between Team Conrad vs. Team Jeremiah, The Summer I Turned Pretty (TSITP) is getting a feature film.
The author and showrunner Jenny Han has since confirmed that a movie is officially in the works, with her both writing the screenplay and stepping behind the camera to direct.
The film will adapt key moments from "We’ll Always Have Summer", the final book in her bestselling trilogy and promises to deliver the closure fans have been begging for.
The Season 3 finale, which premiered Sept 17, finally answered the question that’s divided fans from day one - who would Belly Conklin end up with?
Just as viewers were catching their breath Han dropped one last twist.
A handwritten note appeared in the credits, thanking fans for their love and hinting that the story wasn’t quite over.

What’s remarkable is how the show has become a generational obsession not just among teens and Gen Zs, but especially among millennials who see their first loves, their heartbreaks and their insecurities reflected back on screen.
Many grew up reading Han’s books, while others discovered them later; however, for many, the show is like an emotional time machine.
Unlike many teen dramas that wrap up neatly, The Summer I Turned Pretty gives space for emotional ambiguity. Belly’s confusion in the love triangle, the moments of grief and even the imperfect characters allow adult viewers to revisit formative years with nuance.
Fan devotion goes beyond just watching. There are TSITP-themed dinner parties, watch parties and creative tributes.
While plot details of the movie are still under wraps, speculation is already swirling: Will we finally see the long-awaited Belly and Conrad wedding?
The original cast - Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno are expected to return, though nothing is officially confirmed yet.
Han has described the film as a love letter to fans who grew up with Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah whether they discovered them as teens or returned to them years later.
