[FIRESIDE CHAT] Burn awareness, breakthroughs in treatment: What you need to know about burn injury

In this episode, Avisena Healthcare Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Dr Wan Syazli Rodzaian Wan Ahmad discusses burn injuries in depth - from types and degrees of burns to myths, first-aid mistakes, and vital preventive measures at home. 

He explains why families cannot donate skin in severe cases, how split-thickness grafts allow skin to be reused, and why chemical burns require much longer rinsing under water than most people realise. 

Common misconceptions such as applying toothpaste or ice are addressed, alongside the correct steps the public should know when dealing with burns. 

Dr Wan Syazli also reflects on the remarkable recovery of national footballer Faisal Halim, whose survival and return to football after a life-threatening burn injury remains an extraordinary story of resilience.
