Faisal Halim surgery: Human skin, all the way from Belgium in just two days?

In this episode of Fireside Chat, Avisena Healthcare Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr Wan Syazli Rodzaian Wan Ahmad, reveals the critical step taken to save Faisal Halim’s body from further damage after suffering a chemical burn.

Due to the severity of the injury, doctors couldn’t use artificial skin. Instead, they urgently required real human skin, only available in Belgium at the time. 

Normally, the process of importing the graft would take up to two weeks. But with Faisal’s life and limbs at risk, there was no time to wait.
