Saudi Arabia's top religious cleric, the Grand Mufti Abdulaziz al-Sheikh, who had held the position since 1999, has died.
RIYADH - Saudi Arabia's top religious cleric, the Grand Mufti Abdulaziz al-Sheikh, who had held the position since 1999, has died, the royal court announced in a statement on Tuesday, reported German Press Agency (dpa).
"The Kingdom and the Muslim world have lost a distinguished scholar, who made significant contributions in the service of science, Islam and Muslims,” said the statement, carried by the Saudi Press Agency. - BERNAMA-dpa
