PUTRAJAYA - Barisan Nasional (BN) reiterated its stance of being ready to work with any party ahead of the 17th Sabah state election, except with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

Its chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the collaborative approach was in line with BN's principle of avoiding overlapping seats that could potentially be won, especially through alliances with political partners such as Pakatan Harapan (PH) and other like-minded parties.

"BN-PH 'plus' 'plus' 'plus' means we are ready to work with any party that agrees with our party's principles to avoid overlapping areas that have an advantage in terms of winning chances.

"With GRS, we have decided (not to work together) because they are confident they can win a lot, so they don't need BN," he said after the IKONDESA launching ceremony here, today.

The Sabah State Legislative Assembly will be automatically dissolved on Nov 11 to make way for the 17th state election.

Previously, Zahid, who is also Umno president, was reported to have said that BN would not field candidates in all 73 DUN seats, but would instead identify the number of seats it thought would be suitable to contest. - BERNAMA
