Two killed, nine injured in crash on Pan Borneo highway
Both victims who died were men and among the eight passengers travelling in the van.
SIBU - Two people were killed while nine others were injured in a road crash involving a van and a four-wheel-drive vehicle on the Pan Borneo Highway, near the Skrang Clinic in Betong today.
According to a statement from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), both victims who died were men and among the eight passengers travelling in the van.
Six other van passengers sustained serious injuries, while three victims travelling in the four-wheel-drive vehicle, a Land Cruiser, were also injured.
Following a call at 11.59am, a team from the Betong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was mobilised to the scene, located about 23 kilometres from the station, and arrived at 12.22pm.
"Two victims were confirmed dead at the scene by Health Ministry (KKM) personnel, while six seriously injured victims were taken to Betong Hospital for treatment,” it said.
Police are still identifying the victims involved and determining the cause of the crash. - BERNAMA
