Former defence chief Tun Mohamed Hashim laid to rest
Hashim’s body was buried about 20 metres from the grave of his wife, Puan Sri Majmim Yahya, who died on May 21, 2021.


KUALA LUMPUR - Former Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) chief General Tun Dr Mohamed Hashim Mohd Ali, who passed away on Oct 1, was laid to rest at the Raudatul Sakinah Cemetery in Sungai Besi, here at 10.30pm.
The funeral and burial of the former Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), which was attended by approximately 560 MAF officers and personnel, were carried out in accordance with military customs, including full military honours.
At the ceremony, MAF chief General Tan Mohd Nizam Jaffar presented the Jalur Gemilang to Mohamed Hashim’s eldest son, Ibrahim Mohamed Hashim as a sign of respect and appreciation for Mohamed Hashim’s services in the MAF.

The late-Mohamed Hashim breathed his last at a private hospital at 11.52 am today after suffering a stroke.
Hashim, who died at the age of 90, is survived by three children and five grandchildren.
Earlier, his body was bathed and shrouded, and prayers were held at Masjid Khalid Al-Walid, Ministry of Defence here.
Present to pay their last respects were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, as well as several former CDF chiefs namely General Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal, General Tan Sri Azizan Ariffin and General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affendi Raja Mohamed Nor.
Also present was the late-Mohamed Hashim’s sister Tun Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, wife of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. - BERNAMA
