IPOH - A female student accidentally presses the accelerator pedal instead of the brake, causing her car to crash into a cafe inside a university area.
The incident took place around 3.30pm on Tuesday when the 19-year-old student was believed to be moving her Perodua Myvi to another parking spot.
Ipoh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the car suddenly surged forward and struck the glass wall of the café located along Jalan Raja Permaisuri Bainun.

“Preliminary investigation found that the driver accidentally pressed the accelerator pedal while attempting to move her car, causing the vehicle to move forward and crash into the café window,” he said when contacted by reporters.
He said no injuries were reported in the incident and the damage was estimated at RM7,500.
Abang Zainal Abidin added that the student was still holding a probationary driving licence (P licence) at the time of the incident.
“Police have recorded her statement and issued a summons to the student.
“Further investigation is being carried out under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (Rule 10 LN 166/59) for failing to control a vehicle while driving,” he said.
