Islam is a way of life, not a political tool – Firdaus Wong
Multiracial Reverted Muslims president Firdaus Wong reminds that Islam should never be treated as a political tool. Not because religion has no place in politics, but because Islam itself is a complete way of life.
It guides every aspect of a Muslim’s daily life, from birth to manners and even personal hygiene.
He explained that just as we don’t blame a car or knife for being misused, we shouldn’t blame Islam when people exploit it for personal or political gain—the fault lies with the user, not the tool.
Firdaus noted that the misuse of Islam is not new and extends beyond politics. Throughout history, religion has been manipulated for wealth, influence and even war.
He stressed that the answer is not to separate Islam from politics, but to ensure politics is guided by Islamic values, not the other way around.
