KUALA LUMPUR - Over 10 million citizens, out of 16 million eligible Malaysians, benefited from the targeted RON95 petrol subsidy under the Budi95 initiative as of 4 pm today, resulting in a 62.5 per cent participation rate.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) said that this involved total sales valued at RM727.7 million, equivalent to 365.7 million litres of petrol purchased at the subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre.

"The implementation of the targeted RON95 petrol subsidy under the Budi95 initiative has garnered a highly encouraging response from the people since its launch on Sept 27, 2025," it said in a statement today.

It added that since its rollout on Sept 27 for police and military personnel, followed by Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients the next day, and then to all eligible Malaysians on Sept 30,  Budi95 transactions have shown a positive upward trend, peaking on weekends at over three million transactions per day.

"This demonstrates that Malaysians are ready to embrace a targeted subsidy approach that is transparent, efficient, and provides tangible benefits. It also proves the effectiveness of the MyKad digital verification system at petrol stations, which has been running smoothly and reliably," the ministry said.

It added that the MADANI government remains committed to ensuring that this targeted subsidy system continues to be implemented smoothly, transparently, and in a way that provides direct benefits to the people, with ongoing monitoring and improvements in collaboration with relevant agencies.

The public can obtain more information via the official Budi95 Madani portal, which also offers a transaction record checking feature through MyDigital ID to ensure personal data security, or by contacting the helpline at 1-300-88-9595 or via WhatsApp at +603-2631 4595. - BERNAMA
