"Not something new, should know better" - Tun M on alcohol at ministry-linked event

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad responds to Housing Minister Nga Kor Ming’s remark that “alcohol was served, but no one forced Muslims to drink it.” 

Dr Mahathir calls the statement insensitive, stressing that for Muslims, the issue is not just about consumption but also about exposure and public serving of forbidden items such as alcohol or pork in their presence.

He insists that this is not a new debate, but a longstanding social norm that all Malaysians should already understand.
