SHAH ALAM - What began as a routine school day turned into a nightmare for a mother after receiving a distressing call from her son’s school, informing her that he had been injured during class.

She said when she arrived, she found her son in pain.

The 36-year-old mother said her son's schoolmate believed to be involved in the incident came to apologise and said he "heard a crack" after the fall.

"When I arrived, I saw my son sitting on a chair, crying. He did not let anyone check or touch his legs as it was too painful and he screamed in pain," she said when contacted.

The mother immediately brought her son to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that his leg was broken.

She said her son who is a tenpin bowler, had just returned from the junior circuit and had been scheduled to compete in a tournament on the day of the incident, followed by another tournament, next month.

"He was sad because he had already set his mind to go," she wrote in the comment section of a post about the incident on Threads.

But what also troubled her was how the school handled the matter.

She said the school’s preliminary report on the incident stated that there had been no physical contact, claiming her son fell after the other student merely held his shoulder.

She questioned the account, asking, “If he only touched his shoulder, how did my son end up with a broken leg?”

She added that the report also stated that there was no teacher in the classroom when the incident occurred.

Feeling frustrated by the discrepancies and what she described as the school’s lack of transparency, the mother said she had informed the Education Ministry about the matter and even planned to bring the matter to the District Education Office.

She said they were still waiting for the school’s full report on the incident.

The mother said she only wanted the truth and for the school to take responsibility, as she continues to seek clarity over what really happened to her son.
