SHAH ALAM – The government will maintain the current rates for the Rahmah Cash Aid (STR) and Rahmah Basic Necessities Aid (Sara) under Budget 2026, with an additional round of RM100 Sara aid to be given to all adult Malaysians early next year.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the extra payment, benefiting around 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above, will be distributed in mid-February 2026 to assist with preparations for Ramadan and Chinese New Year celebrations.

“Government will once again provide RM100 Sara aid to 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above.

“It will be channelled in mid-February to help with preparations for Ramadan and the Lunar New Year,” Anwar said when tabling Budget 2026 in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday.

He added that for 2026, nine million STR recipients will continue receiving Sara assistance of up to RM100 per month, amounting to RM1,200 a year, while one million recipients under the e-Kasih category will receive up to RM200 per month, totalling RM2,400 annually.

Single individuals will receive RM600 a year, equivalent to RM50 monthly, through the Sara programme.

The maximum household benefit will amount to RM4,600, combining STR (RM2,200) and Sara (RM2,400) for households earning below RM2,500 per month with five children.

Anwar also stated that the RM100 Sara Appreciation Aid given to all adults on Aug 31 had been spent by more than 70 per cent, with any remaining balance to be reallocated by December to assist low-income groups.
