Government to provide RM150 monthly allowance for PWD students

SHAH ALAM – All students with disabilities (PWD) will receive a monthly allowance of RM150, benefiting 150,000 students nationwide, under a new initiative announced in Budget 2026.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government has allocated RM270 million for the allowance, aimed at supporting PWD students and easing the financial burden on their families.

He added that the government will also upgrade school facilities and equipment to make them more inclusive and PWD-friendly, with an additional allocation of RM30 million.

“Every one of the 150,000 PWD students will receive an allowance of RM150 per month, with a total allocation of RM270 million.

“School facilities and equipment will also be upgraded to be PWD-friendly, with RM30 million provided,” he said when tabling Budget 2026 in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday.

In addition, general school aid for underprivileged students will be expanded to cover students up to Form Five, ensuring continued assistance for those in need throughout their secondary education.
