“Losing a Breast Doesn’t Mean Losing Your Womanhood”
Clinical Psychologist from the Psychosocial Support Department of the National Cancer Society Malaysia Jefferson Ng addresses one of the most vulnerable struggles faced by breast cancer patients - the fear of losing identity after a mastectomy.
Jefferson emphasises that womanhood is not defined by physical attributes but by identity, lived experiences and inner strength.
While acknowledging the psychosocial challenges, especially when family support is lacking, he explains that healing often begins with helping patients rediscover who they are beyond their diagnosis.
