SHAH ALAM – A new era of safer travel begins in the East Coast cities of Kuala Terengganu, Kota Bharu and Kuantan as Maxim E-hailing Malaysia launches its “Female Rate” feature, allowing women passengers to book rides exclusively with women drivers.
The initiative enabled women passengers to book rides exclusively with women drivers at no additional cost as they aimed to enhance comfort and security, especially for those travelling alone, at night or over long distances.
The service was also created to provide greater privacy and assurance for women, particularly students, elderly passengers, and mothers with young children.
Orders placed under the Female Rate are only visible to women drivers, minimising unwanted interactions and ensuring a safer riding environment.
The first trip under this new category took place on Oct 17, 2025, in which a blue-grey Myvi completed a journey from Kuantan Putra Square to Sultan Ahmad Shah International Airport.
The passenger, a mother of two, shared her positive experience after trying the feature, saying she noticed the new option on the Maxim app and decided to test it.
She added that as a mother travelling with children, she felt much safer knowing the driver was also a woman.
She further highlighted that the atmosphere was comfortable and she felt safe throughout the trip, praising the initiative as a truly thoughtful feature for families like hers.

Maxim clarified that male users can also request rides under the Female Rate on behalf of female family members or friends, provided they leave a note to the driver.
Maxim Kuala Terengganu Head Ammar Amsyar said the initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to providing safe and inclusive transport options.
“We understand that many women prefer an added sense of security when travelling alone, particularly at night.
“Through this initiative, we hope to create a safer and more comfortable environment for all female passengers and drivers.
“This feature is more than just a rate, it is part of Maxim’s continuous effort to support safer mobility choices and foster greater confidence in e-hailing services,” he said.
Beyond enhancing passenger comfort, the Female Rate helps protect women drivers from risky encounters, promoting a secure and empowering space for women in the e-hailing industry.
