SHAH ALAM - Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth Treasurer Datuk Shahrul Nasrun Kamarudin has expressed regret over his ex-wife Datin Amyera Zainal public allegations about their past marriage and denied his fiancée – Meerween Hanees Natasha Meeat – had any involvement in the allegations.

He said the statements shared online have caused unnecessary public speculation and harm to those who were not involved.

"I want to stress that my fiancée, Meerween Hanees Natasha, has no connection whatsoever with the issues currently going viral.

"Our relationship only began after I was officially divorced and held the status of a single man. I sincerely hope that she will no longer be linked to any form of accusation or slander," he said in a statement posted on Instagram today.

He added that while he accepted responsibility for his past mistakes, he was deeply disappointed that private matters had been turned into public controversy.

"I admit that my previous marriage legally ended on July 30, 2024. My ex-wife and I went through the process in accordance with both civil and religious laws. As a human being, I am not free from making mistakes. I do not deny my shortcomings and what happened in my past marriage is a valuable life lesson.

"However, I truly regret that something which should have remained private is now being made a public discussion, tarnishing the dignity of many, including myself, my family and my fiancée, who has nothing to do with this," he added.

Shahrul also conveyed sympathy toward Amyera despite her recent attacks against him.

“I understand the anger and disappointment my ex-wife may feel about what happened. I hold no hatred or resentment toward her and pray she finds peace, strength and happiness in her life ahead.

“I am also working to improve myself and focus on my family, career and building a better future," he said.

In the caption accompanying the post, Shahrul included a legal disclaimer, stating that Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588) applies to all comments related to the matter.

He noted that the Act governs cybercrimes, including cyberbullying and that amendments to it were aimed at enhancing online safety. Convicted offenders could face fines up to RM50,000, imprisonment up to one year, or both, he warned.

The controversy erupted after Amyera, an entrepreneur, took to Instagram Stories to reveal what she claimed were intimate details about their past relationship.

She alleged that the BN leader had frequently hired prostitutes, subscribed to explicit content on OnlyFans and kept a collection of sex toys.

She claimed these behaviors were the real reasons behind their divorce. She said she could no longer tolerate her ex-husband’s alleged infidelity and double life, prompting her to speak out after months of silence.

The allegations surfaced shortly after Shahrul’s engagement to Meerween on Oct 25, sparking widespread discussion on social media, with many users questioning his credibility as a political figure.
