Zayn Rayyan’s mother goes to Kajang Women's Prison today
Judge Dr Syahliza Warnoh made the decision after rejecting an application by the accused, Ismanira Abdul Manaf, 30, for a stay of execution pending her appeal.

PETALING JAYA – The Sessions Court here has ordered the mother of the late Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin to be sent to the Kajang Women’s Prison immediately to serve her five-year jail sentence for neglecting her autistic son, two years ago.
Judge Dr Syahliza Warnoh made the decision after rejecting an application by the accused, Ismanira Abdul Manaf, 30, for a stay of execution pending her appeal.
"The accused has failed to show any exceptional grounds that would allow a stay of execution pending her appeal at the High Court," said the judge.
Upon hearing the decision, her husband shouted, "May Allah curse all of you!."
The atmosphere in the courtroom turned chaotic as Ismanira’s family members expressed their emotions.
On June 13 last year, Ismanira and her husband, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, 30, pleaded not guilty to a charge of neglect.
The couple had been charged with neglecting Zayn Rayyan in a manner likely to cause him physical injury in the vicinity of Block R, Idaman Apartments, Damansara Damai, and the nearby stream, between noon on Dec 5, 2023, and 9.55pm the following day.
On July 21, Zaim Ikhwan was acquitted of the charge after the court ruled that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against him.
On Dec 6, 2023, Zayn Rayyan was found dead in a stream near Idaman Apartments, Damansara Damai, at around 10pm.
He had previously been reported missing before being discovered lying about 200 metres from his residential block.
The prosecution team in the case consisted of deputy public prosecutors Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin, Aqharie Durranie Aziz and Kamarul Iman Ahmad Sapian, while Ismanira was represented by lawyers Haresh Mahadevan, Ramzani Idris and Lavanesh Haresh.
