SHAH ALAM - A domestic dispute involving influencer and entrepreneur Syed Muhammad Syah Hasif Syed Othman, better known as Prince Syed, his wife Fatin Syazwani and her family has escalated into one of Malaysia’s most widely discussed current viral controversies.

What began with a mother-in-law’s shocking accusations has now turned into a police investigation, arrests and public statements from nearly every family member involved.

Here is a breakdown of what really happened and what we know so far.

How It All Started — The Bariatric Surgery Allegation

The saga first came to light after a video featuring Fatin’s mother went viral, accusing her son-in-law, Prince Syed, of abducting her daughter and stopping the family from visiting her.

In the video, she claimed Fatin underwent a bariatric surgery, a weight-loss procedure, allegedly at Prince Syed’s insistence.

“When we wanted to visit her, he would not allow it, he ran away. He took the grandchildren, too. He cut my daughter’s stomach to sell slimming medicine,” she alleged.

The woman further claimed that her daughter suffered serious complications, including dehydration and near paralysis, before being hospitalised at UiTM Hospital Puncak Alam and that only Prince Syed’s family was allowed to visit her.

The accusations quickly spread online, triggering widespread criticism and debate.

Prince Syed’s Response

In response, both Prince Syed and Fatin publicly refuted the claims.

“I did undergo bariatric surgery, but it has nothing to do with my husband. I did it on my own. Syed did not ask me to; I wanted to do it myself,” Fatin said.

She described that the surgery took place on Oct 8 at a private medical centre in Ipoh and she had personally asked her husband to help save money for it.

“Please do not go after or attack Syed, please. He has nothing to do with it. I just want peace,” she added.

Prince Syed, meanwhile, said his wife had wanted the operation because of body-shaming pressure she faced online.

“Previously, my wife expressed her wish to have the surgery and I asked her if she had thought it through, because I did not support it but I did not stop her either,” he said.

He denied claims that Fatin had been used as a ‘lab rat’ for slimming products.

“I even helped do her makeup on the hospital bed before she was discharged after the surgery, so there is no issue of her being forced,” he clarified.

At the time, Fatin was recovering from dehydration and dialysis treatment but was said to be in stable condition.

A Viral Clash — The Physical Confrontation in Klang

As the online drama escalated, a new video surfaced showing a violent altercation outside a residence, believed to involve Prince Syed and his wife’s family.

In the 50-second clip, a man, alleged to be Fatin’s brother, was seen repeatedly striking someone inside a car with a helmet, while several others, including a woman believed to be Fatin’s mother, appear at the scene.

The incident reportedly took place on Nov 2 in front of a house at Taman Bertih Laut, Teluk Pulai, Klang.

According to a police report lodged by Prince Syed at the Klang Police Station, he claimed he was attacked by four individuals known to him, resulting in injuries to his head, face and hands.

“They struck my head several times with a helmet and punched me in the face. They scratched my hands until they bled, smashed the window of my Proton X70 using a helmet and provoked me,” he said.

Prince Syed Lodges Two Police Reports

The influencer revealed that he had made two separate police reports. One at Saujana Utama Police Station in Sungai Buloh on Nov 1 and another at Klang Police Station the following day.

The first report was filed after receiving pressure from his in-laws, who allegedly demanded that he divorce Fatin and hand over their two children, aged two and six.

“These same individuals also harassed me by asking that I hand over my two children, even though I am capable of taking care of them,” he said.

Prince Syed claimed the confrontation happened because his wife’s family believed he was preventing Fatin from meeting them, but he insisted otherwise.

“In truth, my wife refused to meet them for certain reasons. I lodged a police report for my own safety as I was worried they might act aggressively,” he mentioned.

He added that the couple had hidden their TikTok videos to avoid public scrutiny.

“We only hid our TikTok videos to have some peace because my wife has not been well and at the same time, I need to focus on my business so our mental health is not affected,” he clarified.

Family Members Arrested After the Brawl

Following the altercation, police confirmed that four individuals including Prince Syed’s parents-in-law, were arrested to assist in the investigation.

According to South Klang District Deputy Police Chief Superintendent Kamalariffin Aman Shah, an investigation paper has been opened under Sections 324 and 427 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and committing mischief.

“Following the incident, police arrested three men and one woman aged between 22 and 59 to facilitate the investigation,” he said in a statement today.

He added that investigators are in the process of completing the case file before referring it to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office. Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Sister’s Defence

In the midst of the ongoing dispute, Prince Syed’s sister, Syarifah Syah, shared a TikTok video showing her and her brother by Fatin’s bedside as she received treatment.

“May my sister-in-law recover soon. Only God knows the real story. I will always love you both,” she wrote.

She also denied claims that Prince Syed had barred Fatin’s family from visiting her, calling the allegations false and slanderous.

What’s Next for the Couple?

As of now, police investigations are still ongoing and no formal charges have been announced.

Neither Prince Syed nor his wife has made any further public statements beyond their earlier clarifications.

What began as a private matter has turned into a public spectacle, exposing deep rifts between families and sparking broader conversations about online harassment, misinformation and personal boundaries in the age of viral content.
