Public supports holding general and state elections simultaneously
According to a poll conducted by Sinar Harian across various social media platforms as of 1pm, the majority of respondents supported the proposal.

SHAH ALAM - The public believes that the general election (GE) and state election should be held simultaneously to save costs, reduce political tension and ease administrative processes.
According to a poll conducted by Sinar Harian across various social media platforms as of 1pm, the majority of respondents supported the proposal.
On Sinar Harian’s Facebook page, 91 per cent (77 votes) agreed that GE and state elections should be held at the same time, while eight per cent (six votes) disagreed and one per cent (one vote) were unsure.
Meanwhile, on the X platform, 81.7 per cent of 82 votes supported simultaneous implementation, 14.6 per cent opposed it and 3.7 per cent were unsure.
On YouTube, which recorded the highest number of votes at 1,400, 89 per cent agreed, eight per cent disagreed and two per cent were unsure.
On Threads, support for the simultaneous implementation was also very high, with 92 per cent of 66 votes in favour, eight per cent against and none unsure.
Meanwhile, on Instagram, 90 per cent of 162 agreed, eight per cent disagreed and two per cent were unsure.
Overall, the poll results across all platforms showed that the majority of social media users support holding the GE and state election at the same time.
