Porsche driver loses control, crashes into three vehicles

GEORGE TOWN –Two motorcyclists sustained minor injuries after their vehicles were hit by a Porsche Macan sports utility vehicle (SUV) in an accident on Jalan Mount Erskine here on Thursday.

The accident occurred at about 8.10am and involved a 32-year-old man driving the SUV.

The impact caused the Toyota Avanza MPV, driven by a 48-year-old man and two other motorcycles to be struck.

Northeast district deputy police chief Superintendent Lee Swee Sake said investigations revealed that the driver had attempted to avoid another motorcycle that entered his lane before losing control and skidding into oncoming traffic.

He added that two motorcyclists aged 33 and 48 suffered minor injuries, while both vehicle drivers did not sustain any injuries.

Lee said checks on the SUV driver’s mobile phone showed no record of usage at the time of the incident. He added that the breathalyser and urine tests conducted on the driver confirmed he was free from alcohol and drug influence

He said the case was being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

A one-minute dashboard camera clip of the crash had earlier gone viral and the collision was believed to have taken place while a queue of vehicles waited at a traffic light.
