SHAH ALAM - Sime Darby Property Berhad (Sime Darby Property) and SD Guthrie Berhad (Guthrie) have announced a 50:50 joint venture to develop a next-generation industrial and logistics hub spanning 3,000 acres in Kuala Selangor, Selangor.

The large-scale development will begin with the first 1,000 acres of Guthrie’s land in Jalan Acob, Bukit Kerayong and Bukit Cherakah. The partnership will be formalised through a special-purpose vehicle.

Strategically located about 40 minutes from Port Klang and near Sime Darby Property’s Bandar Bukit Raja township, the site benefits from excellent connectivity via major transport networks, including the West Coast Expressway and the upcoming East Coast Rail Link.

Guthrie Group Managing Director Datuk Mohamad Helmy Othman Basha said the partnership marks a key step in the company’s new strategic direction.

"Our contributions towards nation building are all around us, such as the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the country's administrative capital, Putrajaya. Guthrie will always support national aspirations, but at the same time, safeguarding the interests of our shareholders," he said in a statement.

He added that Guthrie is excited to be part of this inland development belt that integrates industry, logistics and sustainability to create a future ready industrial ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Sime Darby Property Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Azmir Merican said the collaboration presents a major opportunity for both companies.

"This opportunity enables Sime Darby Property to undertake holistic master planning and develop future-ready townships to capture the next wave of industrial and logistics demand, driving sustainable economic growth across Selangor’s industrial corridor.

"Its strong connectivity enhances our value proposition to provide integrated industrial solutions for regional supply chains and high-growth industries. This strategic joint venture with Guthrie positions both companies to deliver long-term value while strengthening Selangor’s position as a key driver of Malaysia’s industrial growth," he said.

The joint venture builds on Sime Darby Property’s established expertise in developing sustainable, high-value industrial ecosystems that attract global partners.

Its flagship development, Bandar Bukit Raja serves as a model for green and innovative industrial growth, with nearly 60 per cent of its landbank dedicated to industrial use and home to Malaysia’s first GreenRE Platinum-rated managed industrial park.

This latest collaboration follows the earlier Guthrie–Sime Darby Property Carey Island Joint Venture, reinforcing a broader regional growth strategy connecting Klang, Kapar and Carey Island.

The initiative aligns with government efforts to develop a world-class port off Carey Island, strengthening Selangor’s position as Malaysia’s key maritime and logistics hub.

Consistent with Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan, the project reflects both companies’ shared vision of creating sustainable, high-impact developments.

The integrated corridor is set to enhance supply chain efficiency, stimulate regional business activity and generate lasting socioeconomic benefits for local communities. Further details will be announced as the development progresses.
