SHAH ALAM - MIC’s move to delay its decision on whether to remain in or quit Barisan Nasional (BN) during its 79th Annual General Assembly prompted a pointed and sarcastic reaction from Umno Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.

He remarked that the postponement essentially means MIC would continue to stand with the coalition for now. In a jab at the party, Dr Akmal added that MIC should remember to inform BN if it ultimately decides to walk away.

“Ok, the decision has been postponed. We continue to remain in BN and stay with the government bloc.

“If you want to leave again, do not forget to inform us. Thank you MIC,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

Earlier, MIC Deputy President Datuk Seri M Saravanan had tabled three motions, which included a proposal for the party to leave BN and seek membership in the opposition coalition.

The 79th MIC Annual General Assembly on Sunday concluded with the decision to defer the matter to a later date.

However, MIC President Tan Sri S A Vigneswaran confirmed that all three motions, including the one proposing an exit from BN, were accepted and handed over to the leadership of the Central Working Committee (CWC) for further deliberation.
