Indie band’s big break: Teman Lelaki’s songs feature at Selangor royal wedding

The band shared their experience on social media and included a private conversation with the Raja Muda Selangor regarding their music.

SHAH ALAM – Two songs by indie band Teman Lelaki were played at the wedding ceremony of Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, creating an unforgettable milestone for the musicians.

The band shared their experience on social media and included a private conversation with the Raja Muda Selangor regarding their music.

In their caption, they wrote: "Ever imagined an indie band getting to perform their songs in front of the royal family?"

The post quickly gained traction, with Malaysians praising Tengku Amir Shah for his musical taste.

The selected tracks were "Teman Lelaki" and "Dengan Nama Tuhan."

In the shared conversation, His Royal Highness described the music as "suuper smol and indie" for "Teman Lelaki" and added "I like this song" when referring to "Dengan Nama Tuhan."

The band expressed joy and gratitude over the royal recognition.

"Alhamdullilah, Nov 7 will be a date we remember, the royal couple’s gracious celebration," they wrote.

They also announced that the live version of the song would be available on Spotify, labelled with "(Live: Wedding Raja Muda Selangor)."

Comments poured in from fans, with messages such as "proud of you guys", "Well done Chor!!" and "Congratulations, may you continue to succeed."

In their follow-up Thread, the bands described performing at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam during the royal celebration as an honour.

On Oct 2, Tengku Amir Shah and Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz were officially married at Masjid Istana Diraja, Istana Alam Shah, Klang.

The celebration with the people was held on Nov 7 at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam and was attended by over 12,000 people.
