'Pay your Mara loans so others can be helped' - Asyraf Wajdi
He said borrowers should stop using such excuses as the agency’s ability to support the community depended on borrowers fulfilling their responsibilities.

SHAH ALAM - Mara chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has issued a firm reminder that borrowers can no longer hide behind the claim that "Mara does not help the Bumiputera" when they fail to repay their loans.
He stressed that the agency must be strict with loan defaulters to ensure more Malays and Bumiputeras in need can continue receiving assistance.
He said borrowers should stop using such excuses as the agency’s ability to support the community depended on borrowers fulfilling their responsibilities.
"There is no compromise with negligent borrowers. No need to use the excuse 'Mara doesn’t help the Bumiputera.'
"Because to help more Malays and Bumiputeras who really need assistance, Mara has to be stricter with those who are negligent," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Asyraf, who is also Umno secretary-general has consistently emphasised that borrowers must repay their loans so that future generations can continue to benefit from the financial aid.
On Monday, it was reported that he expressed disappointment over cases where borrowers failed to make payments, leaving guarantors to bear the debt instead.
He became aware of such cases after a retired civil servant approached him following his visit to the booths at the Mara lobby during the recent "Peace of Mind" programme.
