SHAH ALAM – A social media post by iffiaziz_ recalling her childhood experience with a mute neighbour went viral, drawing emotional reactions from users and eventually reconnecting her with the long-lost friend.
In her thread, she wrote, “I remember when I was seven years old, I had a mute friend. Her name was Nadia.
“No one wanted to be friends with Nadia, maybe because it was difficult to communicate. So when I wanted to play with Nadia, the other kids didn’t want to join.
So most of the time, it was just the two of us."
She continued, sharing a moment that warmed netizens: “There was a time when we were chased by monkeys, she was mute but her scream was the loudest back then. Haha, I was shocked too, this kid. But I swear I miss her."
The thread quickly gained attention, with users urging a reunion.
One wrote, “Girls! Go meet up pronto! We need an update!” while another commented, “The only post I love reading today.”
Another user added, “I hope your post reaches Nadia."
Many hoped that Nadia would see the post and reconnect with Iffi, especially after she expressed that she missed her childhood friend and wished her well wherever she was.
The unexpected moment happened when Nadia replied directly to the thread, writing:
“Hii. Nadia here. Someone contacted me because of this thread. Did you used to live in Taman Melur Tampi? Or do I have the wrong person?"

The response immediately triggered an outpouring of emotion online as netizens celebrated the sudden reunion.
One commented, “This is how we should use the thread! Aww my heart."
Another added, “Please update the reunion photo. I want to see. So happy both of you met.”
A user cheered, “This is a happy ending. May Allah bless the friendship.”
Speaking to Sinar Daily, Iffi confirmed it was indeed the same childhood friend.
“Haha yes, that was the same Nadia. Not someone else or some random coincidence. It was really the same Nadia. But honestly, her face has changed so much until I almost didn’t recognise her at first. She’s definitely prettier now,” she said.
She added that they had managed to reconnect online.
“We did reconnect recently, it’s more of a catching-up-after-a-long-time kind of thing.
“As for meeting up… honestly I haven’t planned anything yet. She’s in Melaka now while I’m in JB, so it’s a bit harder to meet.
“But for now, we’re just in a chill, friendly catch-up phase," she said today.
