Woman faints as hundreds are trapped in stalled monorail
The work of transferring passengers was carried out by their maintenance team

KUALA LUMPUR – A woman faints as a monorail carrying hundreds of passengers stalls along the Jalan Sultan Ismail route heading towards Medan Tuanku near Maju Junction on Thursday morning.
Emergency responders are deployed after an alert is made through NG999.
The incident occurred at around 9.39am before the Kuala Lumpur Operations Movement Centre received an emergency call through NG999.
Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer I Mohamad Remi Che Hat said his team arrived at 9.42am and found the monorail stalled along the Medan Tuanku route.
“Information from the monorail management informed that the situation at the location was under control.
“The work of transferring passengers was carried out by their maintenance team,” he said in a statement.
He said a total of 373 passengers were safely evacuated from the stalled train, adding that a 58-year-old woman fainted during the incident.
The victim regained consciousness after receiving treatment from Health Ministry (MOH) personnel before being handed over for further medical care.
Remi said the operation ended at 11.03am.
