MELAKA – A crocodile caused a stir in the Empang 25 area of Duyong after rising river levels brought on by heavy rain pushed the reptile into the residential zone.

With river levels surging after Sunday evening’s heavy rain, the reptile made its grand entrance right into the area.

Duyong state assemblyman Datuk Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halem shared the incident on Facebook, saying the fire and rescue team wasted no time getting the situation under control.

“The team on-site has successfully driven the animal back into the river.

“Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has been notified for further action,” Noor Helmy said.

And while the reptile is now back where it belongs, he reminded everyone not to get too relaxed just yet.

Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant as they determine the next course of action.
