Form Four student remanded for alleged assault that left another student unconscious in hostel toilet
Police said it was the first incident of its kind at the institution.

SUNGAI PETANI - A Form Four student was remanded for three days after a 16-year-old male student was found unconscious and covered with bruises in a school hostel toilet in Sungai Petani.
The victim was discovered by a teacher in the early hours of Monday and was immediately taken to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for treatment. The school informed the student’s mother at 9.05am.
Multiple bruises were found on the victim's body.
Police investigations suggested the attack happened around 12.1 am, reportedly after the victim insulted a friend of one of the suspects.

Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said a student reportedly became angry over the incident and involved three others in searching for the victim.
Four students aged between 16 and 17 were detained, but only the Form Four student who was allegedly directly involved was remanded for three days, while the other three were released by the Sungai Petani Court on Thursday.
"This is the first such incident at the hostel and there were no closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings at the location," Hanyan said.
The case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code.
