11-year-old boy who fell in Masjid Tanah's drain found drowned
His body was found caught in a branch about 600 metres from the last location where he was seen.
ALOR GAJAH - A boy who went missing after reportedly falling into a drain in Taman Bidara Permai, Masjid Tanah, here, was found drowned last night.
Chief of Zone 2 of the Melaka Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Fire Superintendent Zulkhairani Ramli said the victim’s body was discovered at 8.35pm after a two-and-a-half-hour search.
"The victim was 11 years old and his body was found caught in a branch about 600 metres from the last location where he was seen,” he said.
He added that the Water Rescue Team had carried out a rapid deployment approach and conducted surface water searches due to high and strong water levels.
On Thursday, Zulkhairani said they received a call regarding the incident at 5.47pm before fire and rescue personnel arrived at the scene 13 minutes later. - BERNAMA
