KUANTAN – A family of four experienced a frightening ordeal when their car plunged into a roadside drain while attempting to navigate floodwaters overflowing along Jalan Tersan, Raub, early Friday morning.

According to the Raub Civil Defence Force (APM), the victims were travelling in a Toyota Vios, believed to be driving from Kelantan towards Kuala Lumpur when the incident occurred.

"The incident, which happened at about 5am was noticed by our personnel who happened to be passing by the route on their way to attend to a fallen tree in Ulu Atok.

"Our team immediately assisted the victims and managed to pull the vehicle out of the drain to a safe location," the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, the affected stretch of road, Jalan Bentong–Gua Musang before Kampung Tersan (towards Kuala Lipis) and after Kampung Tersan (towards Raub), has been closed to light vehicles.

Raub APM reported that the 100-metre stretch was submerged under 0.70 metres of water due to overflow from a nearby river.
