SHAH ALAM – Sinar Harian is stepping into its new era and like every good glow-up, it comes with a whole new look, a new direction and a whole lot of Suara Rakyat energy starting Dec 1.

The team says the makeover is all about staying true to what they’ve done for two decades: giving Malaysians a platform to speak their minds. But this time, they’re taking it to the next level.

Sinar Harian Editor-in-Chief Zamri Rambli spilled the tea on why it was time for a revamp.

He said their long-time editorial DNA has always made them stand out because they gave a balanced platform to government and Opposition leaders long before it was a trend.

Now that other news outlets have copied the vibe, Sinar Harian is ready to switch lanes again.

“At the end of the day, the people are everything. What we produce across all platforms must stand with the people and benefit the people, not any particular side,” he said.

One of the brand’s biggest switches is moving fully into solution journalism; stories that offer actual answers instead of just doomscroll material.

Zamri admitted that digital culture pushed many outlets into chasing sensational headlines, but those days are over.

“Now we emphasise to our journalists that every issue faced by the people should not only be raised, but must include solutions,” he said.

And it’s already happening.

During a recent Town Hall Rakyat with Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, one resident highlighted years of flood problems.

A few days later, agencies actually came down to fix things. The resident even called the journalist to say thank you, a wholesome bombshell nobody saw coming.

“That is our inspiration, giving hope and helping the people,” Zamri said.

On the print side, things are getting a full redesign, including a back page that won’t just be sports anymore. Digitally, new programmes, new content and even new portals are coming.

Sinar Varsity is on its way for university students, while Pop Family is joining the squad for young parents. Everything will sit alongside existing favourites like Sinar Bestari, Sinar Islam, Sinar Plus and Sinar Daily.

And because a glow-up is nothing without a party, Sinar Harian is launching a nationwide “red wave.”

Wear red on Dec 1, snap a pic with the newspaper, upload it and you might bag RM10,000. Easy.

“Sinar Harian is not just a media outlet delivering news, but wants to be the aspiration of the people,” Zamri said, closing out the manifesto of their new era.
