BEIJING - A Beijing court has ruled on compensation claims filed by families of several passengers who went missing on Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, the Beijing High People’s Court said in a statement on Monday, according to Xinhua.

The eight cases ruled on this time involve eight passengers.

The Chaoyang District People's Court on Friday ordered the defendants to compensate the plaintiffs in line with the Montreal Convention and relevant Chinese laws.

The compensation covers damages, funeral expenses, emotional distress damages, other losses and related costs, totalling over 2.9 million yuan (about US$410,000) per case.

Flight MH370 went missing on March 8, 2014. Since 2016, family members of 75 missing passengers have successively filed 78 lawsuits, seeking damages and calling for the establishment of a search and rescue fund, among other demands, against Malaysia Airlines and other defendants, the court said. - BERNAMA-XINHUA
