Bersatu urged to act against five Perlis assemblymen over SD
The five Bersatu assemblymen were among those who pulled support from Mohd Shukri Ramli, triggering political uncertainty in Perlis.

SHAH ALAM - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has been urged to take immediate and firm action against its Perlis state assemblymen who were involved in signing a Statutory Declaration (SD).
Pas information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari had said that the five Bersatu assemblymen were among those who pulled support from Mohd Shukri Ramli, triggering political uncertainty in Perlis.
“Bersatu is urged to immediately take firm action against the five state assemblymen from the party who stated that they had lost confidence in the former Perlis Menteri Besar.
“Failure to do so could be seen as a signal that Bersatu is no longer interested in continuing political cooperation with Pas within Perikatan Nasional (PN),” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
Earlier, Pas announced that the membership of three of its assemblymen was suspended with immediate effect after they were linked to the submission of a SD withdrawing support for Shukri.
The affected were Chuping state assemblyman Saad Seman, Bintong state assemblyman Fakhrul Anwar Ismail, and Guar Sanji state assemblyman Mohd Ridzuan Hashim.
Media reports later identified five Bersatu assemblymen who were also alleged to have signed the SD, namely Abu Bakar Hamzah (Kuala Perlis), Izizam Ibrahim (Titi Tinggi), Megat Hashirat Hassan (Pauh), Wan Zikri Afthar Ishak (Tambun Tulang) and Marzita Mansor (Sena).
Local media had previously reported internal turmoil within Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Perlis, with all eight assemblymen allegedly submitting the SD to the Perlis Palace last Friday.
Perlis has 15 state assembly seats and during the 15th General Election, PN secured a historic victory by winning 14 seats, comprising nine from Pas and five from Bersatu, while Pakatan Harapan, through PKR, won the sole remaining seat in Indera Kayangan.
