Top PN leaders’ resignations show coalition’s fragility – AMK Johor
"This shows that the crisis afflicting PN at the national level has now spread to the state level."

JOHOR BAHRU - Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Johor has described the resignations of Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) top leaders at both the national and state levels as clear evidence of the fragility of the coalition’s political direction, particularly in Johor.
The Johor PKR Youth chief, Faezuddin Puad, said the resignation of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as PN chairman at the national level, followed by Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal as Johor PN chairman, reflected a mounting leadership crisis and internal uncertainty.
"This shows that the crisis afflicting PN at the national level has now spread to the state level. The resignation of Dr Sahruddin, who once led Johor as Menteri Besar, proves the fragility of trust among PN components and the failure to unite around an agenda to resolve the people’s problems,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier today, Muhyiddin announced his resignation as PN chairman with effect from Jan 1, 2026, followed by Dr Sahruddin stepping down as Johor PN chairman and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as PN secretary-general.
Faezuddin said the people of Johor currently need stable leadership focused on real agendas such as economic recovery, cost-of-living issues and the creation of job opportunities, especially for youths.
"Politics that is continuously mired in internal conflict and power manoeuvring only adds to uncertainty and diverts attention from the people’s needs,” he said.
Faezuddin said political stability is an important prerequisite to ensure Johor continues to function as the nation’s engine of economic growth, including by capitalising on strategic opportunities such as the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and the implementation of sustainable youth development agendas.
"Johor needs leadership that is focused on getting the work done, not leadership that is constantly in turmoil,” he said.
He also said the internal crisis within PN strengthens confidence that only principled, united and stable leadership, as brought by the Madnai Government, can guarantee genuine development for the state and the country.
He said Johor PKR Youth also believes that the people of the state, especially the younger generation, are becoming increasingly mature in assessing leadership based on performance, integrity and real capability, rather than mere political rhetoric or power manoeuvring. - BERNAMA
