PUTRAJAYA - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expresses confidence in the stability and sincerity of the unity government.

He highlighted that the government’s consensus has no elements of sabotage or betrayal, unlike the opposition in Perlis.

“I am grateful because the unity government’s consensus is stronger, more sincere and there is no attempt at sabotage or betrayal like what happened among other friends (opposition),” he said.

He made the comments during a press conference on Tuesday when asked about the political turmoil in the opposition-led Perlis government.

Earlier, the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced his resignation as Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman, effective Jan 1, 2026.

The former prime minister made the announcement through a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Previously, eight PN state assemblymen, including three from Pas, withdrew their support for then Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli of Pas.

Mohd Shukri, who is also the Sanglang assemblyman announced his resignation as Menteri Besar due to health reasons.

Last Sunday, Bersatu Perlis chairman Abu Bakar Hamzah was sworn in as the 12th Perlis Menteri Besar.
