KUALA LUMPUR – Motions and proposals gathered at the Umno Youth Special Convention will be brought to the party’s top leadership for validation.

Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Mohamad Akmal Saleh said the platform, which serves as the voice of the wing’s grassroots, was attended by nearly 90 per cent of state delegates.

“We invited representatives from every state to speak and opened the floor for debate among attendees by submitting motions and proposals.

“This convention aims to obtain grassroots views to be brought directly to the Supreme Council (MKT) without being altered or polished,” he said at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL) here on Saturday.

He said the outcomes of the convention would serve as an important foundation for party discussions and decisions ahead of the upcoming Umno General Assembly.

“This convention does not determine whether Umno will leave or remain; rather, it is about conveying views honestly and candidly to the top leadership.

“This is so that the leadership can make the best considerations based on the genuine voices of the members,” he said.
