Rembayung booking platform crashes minutes after launch amid overwhelming demand

SHAH ALAM – Excitement over Rembayung, the newly launched restaurant by influencer and entrepreneur Khairul Aming, reached fever pitch on Sunday night when its online booking platform crashed just five minutes after going live at 9pm.
The reservation system, which opened slots for a seven-day dining period starting Jan 6, was quickly flooded by eager diners causing the platform to become temporarily inaccessible within minutes.
Despite the disruption, the booking process continued until 10pwith 2,641 customers successfully securing dining slots during the reservation window.
Khairul Aming shared the situation during a TikTok livestream, telling viewers that the demand exceeded expectations and that his team is working to ensure a smoother booking experience in the future.
The moment quickly became a talking point on social media with many users sharing their frustration after failing to access the platform while bookings were open.
The overwhelming response reflects the strong anticipation surrounding Rembayung that has already been abuzz through Khairul Aming’s frequent promotions and behind-the-scenes content on social media ahead of its opening.
Rembayung is the Kelantan-born entrepreneur’s first restaurant venture, built at a construction cost of RM4 million.
Located on an 8,000-square-foot plot in Kampung Bharu, the restaurant sits just nine minutes from Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and the Petronas Twin Towers.
