Anwar expected to announce key measures at PMO monthly assembly, New Year address today

Loke said the forthcoming announcements reflect the seriousness of Anwar and the Madani Government leadership in addressing issues and challenges faced by the people, particularly amid the current challenging economic climate.

MELAKA – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to make several key announcements at the Prime Minister’s Department Monthly Assembly for January and the 2026 New Year Address today. 

Transport Minister Anthony Loke was quoted by Bernama that the announcements would involve critical issues related to the economy, education and institutional reforms.

“Monday, the Prime Minister will convene a special Cabinet meeting where several urgent issues will be discussed.

“Following that, at 11.30am, the Prime Minister will deliver the 2026 New Year Address together with officers of the Prime Minister’s Department,” he said when officiating the Melaka DAP Convention on Sunday.

Also present was Melaka DAP chairman and Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong.

Loke said the forthcoming announcements reflect the seriousness of Anwar and the Madani Government leadership in addressing issues and challenges faced by the people, particularly amid the current challenging economic climate.

He added that the address will also outline the country’s main direction and the government’s priorities for the new year.
