Tun Mahathir suffered a fracture in the right hip

He was expected to be admitted for the next few weeks at the National Heart Institute.

SHAH ALAM - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad suffered a fracture in the right hip, his press secretary said.

Sufi Yusoff said that Dr Mahathir was expected to be admitted for the next few weeks at the National Heart Institute.

Earlier, the 100-year-old statesman was brought to the hospital at 9.30am after reportedly falling at his residence earlier in the morning.

Sufi Yusoff confirmed the incident via a message shared on the official "Dr M Media Updates" WhatsApp group today.

He was said to have fallen when transiting from one part of the balcony to the living room..

The former fourth and seventh prime minister was previously treated at IJN on July 13, 2025, due to fatigue, but was discharged on the same day.
