SHAH ALAM - Bersatu has sacked its supreme council member Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, effective today.

According to a Bersatu disciplinary board letter and addressed to Saifuddin, the board stated that it had made the decision yesterday.

“The Disciplinary Board convened on Jan 5 and resolved that Datuk Seri be stripped of party membership under Clause 22.5, effective from the date this letter is issued. This is due to Datuk Seri breaching Clause 9.1.4 of the party constitution,” the statement read.

The dismissal letter was signed by the Bersatu disciplinary board chairman, Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan.

In November last year, Saifuddin was summoned by the disciplinary board to assist with investigations into allegations of his involvement in a plot to unseat Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Saifuddin had previously stated that he was scheduled to meet the board at 2pm on Thursday, Nov 6, 2025, at the Bersatu headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

The sacking follows a series of leadership changes within the coalition.

On Oct 27, 2025, Saifuddin and former Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli were removed as Perikatan Nasional chairmen for Pahang and Perlis, respectively.

Bernama reported earlier today that Saifuddin has received official notification of his dismissal.

“I will file an appeal within the next few days,” he told the national news agency.

Saifuddin, who is the Member of Parliament for Indera Mahkota and the former Perikatan Nasional Pahang chairman, stated that he intends to remain loyal to the party despite the board's decision.

He added that his next step would be to consult close allies before formally submitting his appeal.
