13-year-old Melaka teen found dead in bathroom
The victim’s mother heard the sound of running water from the bathroom.
MELAKA – A 13-year-old boy was found dead in the bathroom of his home in Taman Merdeka, Batu Berendam, on Tuesday.
According to a source, the victim was discovered by his parents when they returned home at around 11.30am.
“Upon arriving home, the victim’s mother heard the sound of running water from the bathroom but found the door locked from the inside. She repeatedly called out to her son, but he did not respond.
“The victim’s father then had to break down the bathroom door and found the teenager lying on his back,” the source said.
The family immediately contacted the 999 emergency hotline and the victim was taken to Melaka Hospital.
At the hospital, medical staff performed CPR for about 30 minutes, but the victim was pronounced dead at around 12.20pm.
“The body has been taken to the Forensic Department in Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem.
“For now, the case is classified as sudden death while awaiting laboratory analysis results,” the source added.
Meanwhile, Melaka Tengah District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, when contacted, said an official statement will be issued soon.
