Umno information proposes establishment of digital wing
The proposed wing would serve as an official party structure at various levels, in line with the demands of the current political landscape.
KUALA LUMPUR - Umno Information has proposed the establishment of a Digital wing within the party, to shape political narratives and strengthen Umno's influence in the digital era.
Umno information chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said that the proposed wing would serve as an official party structure at various levels, in line with the demands of the current political landscape.
"We can also develop a voter database, and analyse sentiment through a microtargeting approach, which can be introduced and taught to party members at the divisional and state levels,” she said.
Azalina, who is also the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform), said this when speaking at the Politics in Digital Era Symposium 2026, organised by Umno Information, in conjunction with the 2025 Umno General Assembly, here, today.
Also present was Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
She said that the establishment of the digital wing would also help the party better coordinate its machinery, shape public perception of Umno on social media, and implement campaigns in a more organised and effective manner.
Azalina added that for the digital wing to be successful, continuous training must be conducted by the Umno Information Office at the central level, in collaboration with state Umno Information offices, for party members. - BERNAMA
