HUNAN – A young boy’s curiosity took a painful turn after a small combination padlock became lodged in his nose, forcing firefighters to intervene to remove it.
The unusual incident drew widespread attention after images of the child, with the padlock dangling from his nostril, went viral on social media.
According to a report by Oddity Central, it is believed the child had been playing with the device before accidentally inserting the shackle into his nose.
The object became firmly stuck and initial efforts to dislodge it proved unsuccessful.
Upon being alerted by the boy, his parents attempted to remove the lock but quickly desisted, fearing they might cause significant pain or internal injury.
Firefighters summoned to the scene determined that pulling the object or applying blunt force risked damaging the nasal cavity and the septum.
To ensure the child's safety, the rescue team opted to use specialised cutting equipment to shear through the metal.
The delicate operation was carried out successfully. Despite the distressing circumstances, the boy reportedly remained remarkably calm throughout the procedure and suffered no lasting injuries.
