KUALA LUMPUR - Police have exposed a fraud syndicate managing a porn site targeting Hong Kong citizens with the arrest of two male China nationals in a raid on a condominium unit in Maluri, Cheras yesterday afternoon.

Cheras district police chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud said the two men, 28 and 31, are believed to have acted as the online platform’s manager and administrator and were arrested during a raid at Laville Condominium at 3pm.

"Preliminary investigations suggest that the syndicate offered Hong Kong citizens live porn content for a limited period via a website before asking victims to make additional payments for access,” he said in a statement today, adding that victims would not receive the promised services after making payments.

The syndicate is believed to have been operating for about six months at the condominium and the men were only responsible for controlling and operating the online platform, while payment transactions and account operations are believed to be conducted by another group who are still at large, he said.

The police seized several mobile phones, and total seizures are valued at RM25,000, he said, adding that the two men have been remanded for four days beginning today till Feb 2 for investigations under Section 420 and 120B of the Penal Code. - BERNAMA
