Morning fire destroys 40 houses in Kg Titingan, Tawau
So far, no casualties have been reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

TAWAU - About 40 houses were destroyed in a fire at Kampung Titingan near Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Titingan here this morning.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Tawau Zone chief Moilley Milin said the department received an emergency call at 10.15am and three fire engines arrived at the scene at 10.23am.
"The Fire and Rescue Department used water from open sources as well as the department's water tankers in the firefighting operation and the fire was brought under control at 12.03pm," she told reporters here today.
She added that, so far, no casualties have been reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, one of the fire victims, Saparida Ambuolo, in her 60s, said she was performing the solat dhuha at 10am when she heard neighbours shouting about the fire.
"When I came out of the house, I saw that the fire was already in the middle of the village. I was at home alone at the time as my children were at work, so I asked the villagers to help save belongings such as the television and washing machine.
"This is the second time I have experienced a fire. After this, I do not know where I will live. I hope the government can provide housing for fire victims, such as the People’s Housing Programme in the past," she added.
She said she accepted the incident, which occurred ahead of Ramadan, as fate, adding that no preparations had been made to welcome the holy month. - BERNAMA
