Khelif willing to undergo sex test before 2028 Olympics
"I am not a transsexual. My difference is natural. I am simply like this. I have not done anything to change how nature created me," Khelif said.

PARIS - Algerian Olympic women's boxing champion Imane Khelif is willing to undergo a biological sex test by governing body World Boxing before the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.
At the 2024 Paris Games, Khelif and Lin Yu-ting from Taiwan won gold after being allowed to compete by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) despite being disqualified from the world championships the year before after allegedly failing tests over their biological sex.
"I am not a transsexual. My difference is natural. I am simply like this. I have not done anything to change how nature created me," Khelif told French sports daily L'Équipe on Thursday.
"That is why I am not afraid. If I have to undergo a test for the next Games, I will do it."
The boxer said she had been undergoing hormone treatment in the run-up to the Paris Games.
"I have female hormones. People do not know this, but I have already reduced my testosterone level for competitions. I am surrounded by doctors, I am supervised by a professor, and I have had hormone treatments to reduce my testosterone level," Khelif said.
"For the qualifying tournament for the Paris Games, which took place in Dakar, I reduced my testosterone level to zero."
Khelif also responded to critical remarks about her by US President Donald Trump.
"I am not a transsexual, I am a girl. I was raised as a girl, I grew up as a girl, the people in my village have always known me as a girl. I respect him if he respects the truth," she said.
Khelif reaffirmed that she intends to compete at the 2028 games in Los Angeles despite all fighting professionally.
"Just because I am fighting as a professional does not mean I am giving up the 2028 games. Not at all. I want to box for Algeria at the games in Los Angeles and become the first female athlete in Algeria's history to retain her Olympic title," she added. - BERNAMA
