MUMBAI - Three people were injured after several balloons filled with flammable gas exploded inside a lift at a residential building in Goregaon West here on Monday.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the explosion occurred shortly after a delivery man entered the lift carrying balloons believed to be for a birthday celebration on an upper floor.
The blast triggered a large fireball that briefly engulfed the lift interior, causing the three individuals to panic and rush out to save themselves.
A 21-year-old woman reportedly suffered burn injuries to her right hand, neck and other parts of her body, while the 32-year-old balloon delivery man was also injured.

Police confirmed that the balloons were filled with hydrogen gas, which is highly flammable and have opened an investigation into negligence involving the balloon shop owner.
