‘Don’t worry, I’ll send out the invitations’ – Syed Saddiq responds to wedding tease in Dewan Rakyat
Sany took the opportunity to wish him “Selamat Pengantin Baharu”.

SHAH ALAM – “Don’t worry, I’ll send out the invitations.”
That was Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s light-hearted response after a fellow Member of Parliament jokingly congratulated him on being a “newlywed” during today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.
The moment took place while Syed Saddiq was debating the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link Johor Bahru–Singapore Bill 2026, when Mohd Sany Hamzan (PH–Hulu Langat) interrupted to tease the Muda lawmaker, who was dressed in a yellow baju Melayu.
“I don’t know, but lately Muar has been wearing 'baju Melayu' quite often. That usually means something is getting very close,” Sany quipped, prompting a smile from Syed Saddiq.
After raising his proposal on traffic dispersal measures between Johor Bahru and Bukit Cagar, Singapore, Sany took the opportunity to wish him “Selamat Pengantin Baharu” (congratulations to the newlyweds).
Syed Saddiq replied: “Ya Allah, don’t worry, I’ll send out the invitations.”
Since last year, Syed Saddiq’s close friendship with actress and singer Bella Astillah has attracted public attention, although neither has confirmed nor denied being in a romantic relationship.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Syed Saddiq stressed that the RTS Link project must be supported by an efficient public transport network to effectively resolve congestion issues at the Johor–Singapore border.
He noted that an estimated 20,000 passengers are expected to use the RTS during peak hours, in addition to around 10,000 others using public transport.
“At one time, we could have 30,000 people gathering in one place. Without an effective traffic dispersal system, congestion will not improve, it could worsen,” he said.
