SHAH ALAM - The expulsion of Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) was expected, says former Bersatu information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan.

Wan Saiful, who is also Tasek Gelugor MP said the move showed that party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was in a desperate situation.

He claimed that Muhyiddin personally sending the expulsion notice made it appear as though he was also taking action as the chairman of the party’s Disciplinary Board.

"Hamzah's expulsion was indeed anticipated because Muhyiddin is truly desperate right now.

"This is especially when Muhyiddin himself sent the expulsion notice (in the WhatsApp group), as if he is also the chairman of the Disciplinary Board. Muhyiddin’s behaviour is out of the ordinary.

"Support for Muhyiddin inside the party is thin. Most of those still backing him are people he personally appointed and their loyalty appears tied to the roles they hold.

"My earlier comments were correct, the Disciplinary Board is being used to go after Hamzah.

"The grassroots remained with Hamzah. In fact, the larger group is with Hamzah," he said in a statement on Facebook.

Earlier, it was reported that Hamzah have been sacked from Bersatu with immediate effect through an Expulsion Notice dated Feb 13, 2026, bearing reference number BERSATU/LD/RPT/108/25.

According to the notice, Bersatu’s Disciplinary Board made the decision after convening on Feb 12, 2026.

The notice stated that the expulsion was carried out under Clause 22.5 of the Bersatu Constitution following Hamzah’s alleged violation of Clause 9.1.4 of the party’s constitution.

Hamzah, who is also a member of the Larut division with membership number 00259299, was informed that the notice takes effect immediately.

However, he can submit an appeal to the Appeals Board for consideration within 14 days from the date of the notice.

The expulsion notice was signed by Bersatu Disciplinary Board chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Mohd Manan and addressed to Hamzah in Bukit Damansara.
